Frequently Asked Questions: Tire Service
How do I know when my tires need to be replaced?
The most reliable test is the penny test: insert a penny into your tread groove with Lincoln’s head pointing down. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, your tread is below 2/32 of an inch and your tires should be replaced immediately. Other warning signs include sidewall cracks, bulges, frequent air loss, and tires over six years old.
How often should I rotate my tires?
Most manufacturers recommend rotating tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles — conveniently, about every oil change interval. Regular rotation prevents uneven wear, extends tire life, and maintains consistent handling. CAR FIX can perform a rotation at any of our 11 East Tennessee locations, often the same day.
Can a flat tire always be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?
Not every flat requires a full replacement. If the puncture is in the central tread area and smaller than 1/4 inch in diameter, it can typically be patched. Damage to the sidewall, large punctures, or tires that have been driven on while flat usually require replacement. Our technicians will give you an honest assessment before recommending any work.
What tire brands does CAR FIX carry?
Through our partnerships with leading tire manufacturers, we carry a wide selection of brands across all price points — from value options to premium performance tires. Use our online tire finder to browse available inventory at your nearest location and compare brands and prices before you visit.
Does CAR FIX offer financing for tire purchases?
Yes. CAR FIX accepts Synchrony Car Care financing, which allows you to spread the cost of new tires and installation over time. Ask about financing options when you book your appointment or visit any of our 11 East Tennessee locations.
